The wedding is over and what a beautiful wedding it was. But now it's time to get down to business, like stitching, right?
We continue to bring in lots of new patterns for you. I don't always 'highlight' them because there are just too many. So, be sure to check out our website to see what's calling your name. I've begun putting earplugs in when I log on because, frankly, they ALL are calling my name.
I updated our blog this past week. For those who missed it, here's the link:

In my blog, I have written about putting together a Stitch-Along (SAL). For those who are unfamiliar with how this works, let me tell you a little about it. A SAL is a fun event where participants receive a pattern (or series of patterns) all at the same time. We all stitch the design at the same time and can post pictures and comments on a special FB page that I will create just for this SAL. I have decided to offer the MYSTERY Spirit of Christmas Series by Lizzie Kate as our SAL. Now, this adds a little twist! The MYSTERY is that you won't know what the final piece looks like until you receive the last pattern. Fun, right? The Spirit of Christmas series will be three releases, with the first being released September 1, then October 1, and then lastly November 1. I put put a link up on my FB page in plenty of time for you to register and get your supplies.
When you register for the Mystery SAL, I will tell you how much fabric and floss you will need to stitch the sampler as one piece. Lizzie Kate designed this series to be stitched on 28 count or 32 count linen, or 14 or 16 count Aida. Their patterns have historically been fairly easy to stitch. So, if you haven't worked a lot on linen, this may be a great chance for you to hone your skills. If you have questions, you can always reach out to me by email, phone, our website, whatever works best for you. Also, they have been working with Weeks Dye Works on a beautiful new floss color that will be used in the sampler. I can't wait to see it!
We also will be offering a DISCOUNT on the pattern, fabric, and floss to those who register for the SAL. You will not be obligated to purchase your fabric or floss from us, but we will have it available if you want to make your life a little easier.
I'm hoping many of you will join us. :-)
I also mentioned in my blog that, according to market research, there has been a decline in the last ten years if needle arts. BUT now there has been a great resurgence, particularly in the under 35 crowd. YAY! I imagine many of us are long time stitchers (for me, it has been since 1st grade - Yikes, that's been a long time ago) I have my own theory as to why this is happening - all of us, but I think particularly those who have children responsibilities, are working inside/outside the home, and well, life, in general, have become more and more stressed year after year. I personally have stopped watching the national news. Studies have shown that the rhythmic motion does relax us and I think that this discovery is making sense to more and more. So, if you or your friends find yourself stressed out, I would like to suggest this: turn off the TV, turn off your cellphone (if you can), make a cup of tea, light your favorite candle, and pick up your favorite needlework and find YOUR peace.
Until next time, be kind to each other.
