Spreading Your Wings!

Princess Proclamations

Hi there, friends.

If you and your family are like ours, summer brings picnics, cook-outs, weddings, gardening, time on the boat, fireworks, and the list goes on.   My bird feeders are a very business place.  I have cardinals, blue jays, nuthatches, downy woodpeckers, chickadees, tufted titmouse, gold finches, and the jewel in the crown today was the return of the Baltimore Orioles.  If you haven't had the joy of seeing the Oriole in person, you are truly missing out on a glorious site.

I know it's difficult to fit stitching into all these plans, but I hope you still set aside a little stitching time.  Maybe start a smaller project that won't be overwhelming or frustrating to
you because of the time commitment.  We have some adorable smaller projects that may be right up your alley.  Here are a few suggestions:

Bowlful of Bunnies Christmas in Red Tiny Tidings

I'm working on a project to enter into the Ohio State Fair again.  I entered last year and was surprised to come out with a First Place ribbon.  So, I figured, what the heck, let's try it again.  I've got two pieces that I'm trying to decide between - either the Merry Christmas sampler by Blackbird Designs or Tis the Season by Blackbird Designs.  I see a pattern here (non pun intended), don't you?  I'm kind of partial to Blackbird Designs.  I'll let you know what I decide.  :-)

We've brought in some new patterns to expand our repertoire.  I haven't tried punch needle, but love the look of it.  I have brought in some really beautiful punch needle patterns that may be enough to inspire me to learn how to punch.  Do you want to learn it, too?  Or are you already a pro?  Either way, here are a few of our punch needle patterns that I think are wonderful.  You won't find these everywhere, folks.  :-)

Glad Tidings                     Poppys and a Raven Old Wool Co.

I had asked in last month's newsletter if there was interest in a Stitching Retreat for next year.  There was some interest but not enough to move forward with plans.  In the meantime, I'll be spinning my wheels to see if there my be something online that we can all do together.  I'm leaning toward a Stitch-A-Long that could be fun.  If you aren't familiar with Stitch-A-longs, it's an event where those who want to participate all purchase the same chart(s) and we stitch it together.  Sometimes the designer may only release parts of the chart at a time, known as a 'Mystery' pattern.  It's a 'mystery' because until you receive the final release, you don't know what it will look like.  These are especially fun!  I'm thinking it may be late summer when I post what I have chosen for the stitch-a-long.

We are excited to announce that we are in the process of making our own line of hand-dyed, over-dyed threads.  We are working on them now and they will be ready to roll out by early autumn.  Such beautiful, rich prim colors that I think you are going to love.  AND I think I can keep the prices down so they will be more affordable.  I love some of the other hand dyed threads but they can be very expensive if you are completing an entire project using them.

This is going to be a busy, busy summer, but in a good way.  :-)
